Making new memories

This weekend is not the easiest one for me. It is the anniversary of the Kariba trip that ended my relationship with Matthew. We first met in Kariba and our relationship pretty much ended there too. He has gone back to Kariba again this weekend with others. I thankfully am going to the Vumba with some friends and won't be sitting at home obsessing. Despite mudslides this week in the Vumba I am desperate to get away and have a bit of head space and hopefully a good time away.

We closed school for half term today. Tomorrow is Mugabe's birthday public holiday (not sure how I feel about that but there we go). Over break today I was juggling helping my mum put work on a flashstick to print, making an online payment while I had internet, trying to source petrol on the black market to fill a jerrycan for tomorrow and sorting getting a solar panel so we can have lights and internet at home. In between I was having to try placate a situation where one child didn't invite only one person out of the whole class despite everyone else and her brother to his birthday party. I was very relieved come home time to be done for the week and have four days of a break.

Looking forward to visiting the famous Tony's coffee shop in the Vumba - I have never been, reading a book and going for walks. I don't think there's really space for art supplies but maybe a sketch pad and will take my camera. So grateful to Lucy for organizing.
